My name is
Ruben Pol. I’m 18 years old and live in Alphen aan den Rijn. I’m following
bilingual education at the ‘Scala College’. An internship during my study
course aroused my love for Indonesia.
In my fifth year, I had to arrange and follow an international internship. A
friend of mine pointed me to this website, tolongflores.com. After learning
more about Indonesia and this foundation, I was convinced that this is it. This
is what I wanted to do, an internship at which I would practise volunteering on
the beautiful island Flores. After meeting up with Kees and Linda van Beusekom
a couple of times, it was time to leave for Labuan Bajo!
During my internship, I experienced how beautiful
Indonesia is, how loving and hospitable the Indonesians are and all the good
Foundation Tolong Flores had done already.
However, I also saw that help is still needed. Still, there is a lot of poverty
and the level of education is far from where it should be.
For the children in Indonesia too, education determines their future. That’s
why Tolong Flores takes action!
Your contribution counts!
Treasurer: Cees de Greef
My name is Cees de Greef and live in Roosendaal. I am married with Els de Greef and have two daughters.
In 2009 I have made a trip with Els to Sumatra, Java And Bali. At that time there was an severe earthquake near Padang, Sumatra. In particular the living conditions made a deep impression on us. What a difference to our own western, comfortable life! The school and schoolconsitions are very poor compared to our schools here in The Netherlands. When my cousin in law asked me to take a seat in the board of Tolong Flores, I did not hesitate a moment, and I said immediatly Yes! In 2011 I made a trip on Mallorca by bike and with help of some sponsors, I biked a nice amount of money together. If you want to support our goal and like to help the children on Flores, be generous and donate! The Children of Flores will be gratefull to you!
Secretary: Peter van Esschoten
I am Peter
van Esschoten, 37 years. Meanwhile, I've seen a lot of the world, made
tours through South America and traveled from Africa to Asia. Many
different people and habbits I have seen and yet continues to attract
Asia to go back. In 2006 I was for the first time in Indonesia and went
back in 2011 to enjoy this warm, welcoming and happy country. But
besides this bright side, there is also a lot of poverty and inequality
and lack. With the Foundation "Tolong Flores" we will try to improve
life for people big, or small.
Boardmember: Ingeborg Breuseker
My name is Ingeborg Breuseker, I’m 28 years old and I live in The Hague.
A couple of years ago I started to think about doing volunteery work abroad. I got introduced to Kees and Linda van Beusekom and they told me about their foundation, Tolong Flores. I was immediately excited! What a great initiative and what a beautiful dream to give the children on Flores a future by providing and stimulating their education. In 2013 I made the trip to Indonesia and stayed on the island Flores for 2 weeks, where I got the opportunity to teach English at the Sekolah Dasar Negeri in Gorontalo. Ever since, the island Flores and its people have a special place in my heart, and I’m very grateful and happy to be a member of this foundation. Tolong Flores gives the children on Flores a hopeful future. A lot has been achieved already, but there are many plans still to be realized with your help. Every child has a fundamental right to education, and this is what Tolong Flores is committed to! Will you join us?
Boardmember: Patrick Hoop
My name is Patrick Hoop. At present times, I am studying International Relations at Leiden University. Chosen to be a board-member in november 2014, I want to put my theoretical learnings into practice in real-world situations. What better alternative is there than to have the island of Flores, Indonesia as a working-field – aiming to improve the educational situation for the children living there? I am looking forward to be a part of Tolong Flores, to help the children of Flores flourish.
